How can parents tell whether AI is actually helping their child learn?

Look for signs that your child can explain the concept, solve similar problems independently, and apply what they learned later. The goal is not just getting through one assignment, but building understanding that lasts.

Parents can ask simple follow-up questions like, “Can you show me how you got there?” or “What would you do if the problem changed?” Those conversations can reveal whether a student understands the reasoning behind the answer.

It is also helpful to watch for patterns over time. If a student keeps returning to the same concept or still cannot complete similar work independently, that may be a sign they need more support.

Beacon can be one part of that learning process, while teachers and tutors can help provide a broader view of a student’s progress and where more focused instruction may be useful.
