Will Beacon give my child the answer to an algebra 1 problem?

No. Beacon uses questions, hints, and explanations to help students work toward the answer and understand the process themselves.

For an algebra 1 problem, Beacon may ask students to identify the variable, interpret the information provided, or explain what an equation or graph represents. These prompts help reveal where their understanding may have broken down.

If a student makes an error, Beacon encourages them to revisit the relevant step and reconsider their reasoning. They can correct their own work while strengthening their understanding of equations, inequalities, functions, and linear relationships.

This approach helps students learn from the problem instead of simply completing it. The reasoning they practice can help them solve future algebra 1 problems with greater independence and confidence.
