Will Beacon give my child the answer to a pre-calculus problem?

No. Beacon uses questions, hints, and explanations to help students work toward the answer and understand the process themselves.

For a pre-calculus problem, Beacon may help students identify which concepts from algebra, geometry, functions, or trigonometry are relevant. This encourages them to connect previous learning with the advanced material they are studying.

Students are guided in analyzing the problem, choosing a strategy, and reasoning through each stage. If they become stuck, Beacon can offer another question or explanation that helps them reconsider their approach.

Because students remain involved throughout the process, they gain practice managing complex problems and making connections among concepts. These skills can help prepare them for calculus and other higher-level math courses.
