Starting before a student is significantly behind can make tutoring more effective. Eighth grade is a good time to strengthen core skills and address gaps before high school. A tutor can reinforce pre-algebra or Algebra I, reading analysis, writing, science, and other subjects while identifying areas that may become more difficult in freshman-year coursework. Early support can help students enter high school with a stronger academic foundation.
